Porsche Highlights Events from 2020

While everyone can agree 2020 was a strange year full of challenges and ups and downs, many people do not realize that car manufacturers were impacted, too. Every month seemed to bring new innovations and surprising twists in the world of Porsche. This blog will go over some of the highlights from the past year when it comes to Porsche.

January

  • Porsche released the Belgian Legend Edition of the 992 generation Porsche 911 to honor racing legend Jacky Ickx.
  • A Porsche TV commercial featuring the Porsche Taycan is broadcast during the Super Bowl. This is the first Super Bowl commercial Porsche has run since 1997.

February

  • The GP Ice Race took place in Zell am See, which is the home of the Porsche family.
  • Porsche Turbo Charging was added to a charging site in Saxony, which is Europe’s most powerful rapid-charging park.

March

  • Due to the coronavirus, Porsche temporarily stopped all production of their vehicles.
  • Porsche introduced the next generation of the Porsche 911 Turbo S model.

April

  • Porsche created masterclasses online called #GetCreativeWithPorsche to help entertain people that were stuck at home due to the virus.
  • Porsche presented a documentary video titled Back 2 Tape, which featured various dance styles around Europe while featuring the Porsche Cayenne S Coupe.

May

  • Porsche updated their safety measures and started to produce vehicles again based on a location- and task-specific basis.
  • The Porsche 911 Targa 4, 911 Targa 4S, and 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition models made their debut.

June

  • Porsche celebrated its 50-year anniversary since the manufacturer scored its first victory overall at Le Mans.

July

  • Porsche celebrated 45 years with the Porsche 911 Turbo.
  • Porsche AG had a return on sale of 9.9%, sales revenue went down 7.3% since 2019, and the operating result went down by 26.3%

August

  • Porsche introduced their revamped Panamera to the world.
  • The Panamera set a new premium-class category record of 7:29:81 with a full lap on Nürburgring Nordschleife.

  • Porsche created the 9:11 Porsche Podcast, which featured Vice President of Communications Sebastian Rudolph.

October

  • The Leipzig Porsche factory celebrated ten years of hybrid production.
  • Porsche completed the Panamera product line-up, which includes three trims: Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, and Panamera 4S.

November

  • Porsche published concept car designs from the years 2005 to 2019 in a series titled “Porsche Unseen.”

December

  • Porsche begins working with Siemens Energy to develop and implement a pilot project in Chili with the goal of creating the first plant for making synthetic climate-neutral fuels (e-fuels).
