Tips for Getting Your Porsche Ready for Storage

Like many Porsche drivers, as the temperature drops you are getting ready to store your vehicle for the season. While some people simply throw a tarp over their vehicle and call it a day, if you want to properly store your Porsche for the season there are a few tips you should consider. If you follow these suggestions, you will be surprised by how well kept your Porsche is when you uncover it in the Spring.

Suggestions for Storing Your Porsche Vehicle

  • Clean your garage or area where the Porsche will be stored.
  • Consider placing repellents in the area to keep rodents and bugs away.
  • Clean the inside and outside of the Porsche (do not leave anything inside that could be food for critters or could spoil.
  • Consider conditioning the exterior rubber and plastic areas of the vehicle.
  • Change the oil and oil filter.
  • Check fluid levels and top them off as needed.
  • Check the tire pressure and adjust as needed (consider over-inflating by 8-10 psi).
  • Make sure the gas tank is full and was filled with premium gas.
  • Place carpet squares under the tires.
  • Close all air vents in the vehicle.
  • Cover the exhaust pipe.
  • Make sure the vehicle battery has a full charge.
  • Do not use the parking brake, but rather use blocks behind the tires to secure the vehicle in place.
  • To prevent the wipers from sticking to the windshield, place a cloth underneath them.
  • Roll the windows down a few centimeters to prevent condensation and pressure in the vehicle.
  • To keep your Porsche smelling fresh, put some baking soda on the floor of the vehicle.
  • Use a proper vehicle cover that is meant for vehicle storage.
  • Do not start your Porsche until it is time to take it out of storage
