Why is my cruise control not working?
Cruise control is no longer considered to be a luxury feature. In fact, it comes standard in virtually every model produced today. You’d probably expect your cruise control to work perfectly all the time, especially in a Porsche, but that’s not always the case. If you’ve been dealing with the cruise control feature in your vehicle not working, take a look at what some of the potential culprits might be.
Cruise control isn’t necessarily a necessity, but it sure is convenient. That’s why it can be so frustrating if the feature is malfunctioning. There are a few different reasons why it might not be working. The first possible reason is that the brake pedal is going. As you probably know, even a slight touch of the brakes will cause the cruise control to disengage, so obviously a malfunctioning brake switch will make it tough to use cruise control.
Another reason is that a fuse could be blown. This can happen in vehicles pretty frequently, so it’s nothing to be worried about. You can actually take care of this yourself most of the time.
Your speedometer might not be working properly, and if that’s the case, you won’t be able to use cruise control. The feature monitors your speed to ensure you keep moving at the speed you set for your car, and if it’s unable to detect your speed, you won’t be able to set the cruise control.
