When should I replace my cabin air filter?
Your car is more than just a tool to help you get from point A to point B. It’s meant to keep you and your passengers safe from the dangers that exist on the road, and not just collisions. The cabin air filter is a necessary component of your vehicle, but eventually it will need to be replaced. Find out when you should replace your cabin air filter here on our blog!
What does the cabin air filter do?
The cabin air filter works to keep you and your passengers breathing clean, fresh air. It cleans the air that enters the cabin through the heating/air conditioning vents. The filter will catch harmful pollutants, dust, pollen, and other harmful material. Just like any other filter, it will eventually become too dirty and need to be replaced. Failing to do so could be a real problem for someone in your vehicle with allergies or respiratory problems.
It’s recommended that you replace the cabin air filter every 12,000 to 15,000 miles. Some vehicles can withstand a longer timeframe before needing to be replaced; it all just depends on what your owner’s manual suggests. Some of the signs that indicate the air filter needing to be replaced include reduced airflow through the climate control system and persistently bad odors.
