Tips for taking care of your car during the lockdown
Some states are starting to open back up from the lockdown caused by the coronavirus. If you still find yourself stuck somewhere where you’re confined to your own home, you probably haven’t taken your vehicle out much, if at all. While that doesn’t seem like a problem, there are actually some issues that can come from leaving a vehicle parked for too long. Take a look at some tips for taking care of your car during the lockdown!
When you don’t drive your vehicle much, it’s easy for the car battery to die since it charges while you’re driving. This can easily be solved by taking the car for a short drive every now and then or charging it with a battery charger.
Check fluid levels
This should be something you’re always doing, but if you’re going a long time between driving your car, you probably forgot to do it anyway. Check oil levels and transmission fluid regularly.
Maintain tire pressure
When your vehicle sits for long periods of time, it can lead to flat spots. Be sure you check the tire pressure every now and then before you drive the vehicle.
Wash your vehicle
This will help protect your vehicle’s paint, especially if it’s parked outdoors. This is a good idea anyway since acid and debris can damage the exterior and cause corrosion.
