How to clean your car to prevent the spread of coronavirus
The news about the coronavirus has left our nation in a panicked frenzy as we all look for ways to avoid it. Quarantining seems to be the plan of action as of right now, but there is a lot more we can do. Our cars carry a lot of germs, and not many people regularly disinfect the interior. Take a look at some of our tips and tricks on how to clean your car to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The best cleaning solution for disinfecting your car is any alcohol solution that has 70 percent or more alcohol in it. A perfect example would be isopropyl alcohol. This solution can be used to scrub down any surface in your vehicle. Just be sure you’re scrubbing gently, as you can easily damage the interior by scrubbing too hard. It helps if you’re using a microfiber cloth to prevent scratches. While bleach and hydrogen peroxide are effective at disinfecting surfaces, they can damage your car’s upholstery and the trim inside.
For the windows, you can use any regular ammonia-based solution. Just be careful not to get this solution on the seats or the touchscreen display, as it can cause damage to these. If you don’t have these cleaning solutions, soap and water can be effective as well. Before cleaning the seats, vacuum them first to remove debris that will get in the way of your disinfecting efforts.
The coronavirus is spreading rapidly, but we can all do our part to slow it down by disinfecting everything – including our vehicles – to help prevent its spread. We’re all in this together, and it’s going to take a team effort to defeat it. Learn more tips and tricks by checking out our blog!
